CHOMPI firmwares • setup
Set up your CHOMPI
Choose which firmware goes on which key, then write them all to your CHOMPI in one go. No card reader, no files to copy.
Built on the multi-firmware launcher by @sfaber02. The firmwares are made by people in the CHOMPI community; each one below links to its release.
- 3 steps
- launcher 1.5
- Chrome or Edge
-
1Connectnot connected
Switch CHOMPI on so its keys are breathing white, plug it into this computer, then connect. Your browser will ask to allow MIDI; say yes. After that, this page connects by itself.
This CHOMPI's launcher can only take one firmware at a time. This page needs the new launcher:
- Download CHOMPI.bin, the new launcher.
- Switch CHOMPI off, take out the SD card and put it in your computer.
- Replace the
CHOMPI.binat the top level of the card with the downloaded one. Leave theFIRMWAREfolder alone. - Put the card back and switch CHOMPI on. A rainbow shows while it installs the new launcher.
Until then, this launcher can still take one firmware at a time from the firmware page.
-
2Choose firmwares
Each white key on CHOMPI can hold one firmware. Tap a key, then choose what goes on it. Or tap Put on key on a firmware below.
Not connected yet.Standard setup: TAPE on 1, TEMPO on 2, WAVE on 3, USB storage on 15. Other keys stay as they are.
The firmwares
Stock ones come with CHOMPI. Beta and alpha ones are new and still changing; read their release notes to learn how to play them.

3Write to CHOMPI
Nothing to write yet.
CHOMPI's keys fill cyan as each firmware arrives and amber while it's written to the card. Keep it plugged in until this page says it's done.
Speed test
Sends 1 MB of random data at each message size and times it. CHOMPI's keys fill cyan, but nothing is written to the card.
Start a key
Starts the firmware on a key from here, as pressing the key would. Needs launcher 1.5.
